Périplo is a performing arts management company from São Paulo, Brazil. The word “périplo” is a Portuguese word that translates to “trip” or “tour”. It refers to the circumnavigation trip around a country or a continent.
The challenge for this logo was translating the navigation concept into a contemporary perspective. So we decided to focus on the journey itself, not on the equipment, or destination of the périplo. During this journey, we are continually evolving, searching for the next destination.
Since the first sketches, I was looking for a way to translate the restlessness spirit that the client expressed during our briefing meetings. It was clear for me that this logo should be generative and have a motion version. It should be unique, fun, modern and versatile.
One of the big questions about generative logos is how our client – or the designers who work for our client – will be able to create new versions of the logo? To solve this gap, we developed a custom online tool with p5.js. With it, the user can create a new logo iteration that fit the specific request for the application. The user can define the length of the stroke, the colour version and save the logo design either in vector or pixel format. And since this is an online tool, the user can use it in any device – desktop, tablet or mobile.
